Sarah Van Buren, CNM

Sarah Van Buren, CNM, is a compassionate certified nurse midwife and board-certified women's health nurse practitioner dedicated to providing comprehensive care to birthing individuals and clients with gynecological needs. She serves patients at Artemis OB/GYN in Union, New Jersey. 

Sarah's journey in healthcare began with a strong foundation in education. After completing her undergraduate degree at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusett, and a master's degree in education from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, she spent four years teaching 9th-grade science in the South Bronx through Teach for America. Her passion for empowering others led her to transition into the medical field.

Driven by a commitment to holistic care, Sarah pursued a Master of Science in nursing in midwifery and women's health from Yale School of Nursing in Orange, Connecticut. During her time at Yale, she delved into concentrations in gender and sexual health justice and global health management, including the Global Quality Maternal and Newborn Care program. Sarah's education extended beyond the classroom as she gained invaluable experience in midwifery and gynecological care in diverse clinical settings across the globe, from Northern Uganda to cities along the U.S. East Coast.

Sarah's dedication to reproductive rights and transgender care flourished during her tenure as a nurse with Planned Parenthood. Now, as a certified nurse midwife and women's health nurse practitioner, Sarah merges her expertise with her passion for providing respectful, inclusive, and high-quality care to every individual she serves.
